Based on the 1980s August Wilson play of the same name, Ma Rainey's Black Bottomcatches up with its famous titular singer (Viola Davis) — the "Mother of the Blues" — and her horn player (Chadwick Boseman) during one monumental recording session in 1927 Chicago.

The dazzling trailer captivates with swingin' music and striking period visuals — and with both Davis and Boseman offering up their all in the preview, we can't wait to see how brightly they shine throughout the rest of the film.
