TOKYO — Nine former classmates from Southern California, Northern California and Tokyo gathered in Tokyo for their California State University-Waseda University International Division (Kokusaibu)
Their one-year (1984-85) study-abroad program had about 100 exchange students from the CSU system, California private universities and colleges, Oregon State University, Washington State University, Great Lakes and Midwest universities and colleges, and independent institutions.
The Kokusaibu program, created in 1963, included a homestay family component and now has thousands of alumni. The program was absorbed into the then-new School of Interna-tional Liberal Studies in 2004.
Many leaders in the Japanese American community are Kokusaibu alumni. For information about Waseda USA, go to: [email protected]
