LONG BEACH — For a fun-filled ondo and taiko weekend, join in at the Long Beach Japanese Cultural Center, 1766 Seabright Ave. in Long Beach, on Saturday, June 28, from 3 to 9 p.m. and Sunday, June 29, from 3 to 8 p.m.
The annual Summer Festival is filled with cultural offerings open to the public. See Ikenobo ikebana flower arranging, calligraphy, and martial arts demonstrations of kendo, judo and karate.
Chow down with beef and chicken teriyaki, yakisoba, curry gohan, udon, shaved ice, hot dogs, chili dogs, chili rice and more. And there are games for the kids.
Events are scheduled as follows:
Saturday — 5:30 p.m., ikebana; 6 p.m., karate; 6:30 p.m., judo; 7 p.m., ondo; 8 p.m., taiko
Sunday — 4 p.m., Miracle Kids; 6 p.m., kendo; 6:30 p.m., ondo.
