How to install iPadOS 18 public beta

Keep in mind that iPadOS 18 is still a bit rough around the edges. To protect your device, I highly suggest backing up your iPad. If you have an extra iPad lying around that supports iPadOS 18, I recommend you use that instead of running the public beta on your daily driver iPad.

Now that you're aware of the risks, let me show you how to install iPadOS 18 public beta.

• Go to Settings.

• Under General, tap on Software Update.

• Tap on Beta Updatesfollowed byiPadOS 18 public beta.

• Hit the back button (on the top left) to head back to the Software Updatepage.

• Tap on Update Now.

You may be prompted to type in your passcode. A progress bar will appear, getting your iPad ready to install iPadOS 18 public beta. It should only take a few minutes before the "Install Now" button appears.

As mentioned at the outset, the official release date of iPadOS 18 is some time in the fall, perhaps alongside the launch of iPhone 16.
