Remedy Entertainment has consistently released some of the most exciting experiences in gaming in the past few years. The gritty yet kitschy Controlwas a unique, surrealistic adventure in every sense of the word, and the company's most recent release, Alan Wake II, is the trippiest detective story since Rust Cohle waxed poetic about how time is a flat circle in the first True Detectiveseries. It's so good, in fact, that we named Alan Wake IIour 2023 Game of the Year. If you haven't yet had a chance to play it, or were waiting for the game to go down in price a bit before snagging it, today's your lucky day.

It's a psychological thriller that feels much more like an episode of your favorite detective drama with a hefty dose of LSD sprinkled in. It wears its Twin Peaksinspiration proudly and experiments with horror in a way we don't often see in the genre.
Set 13 years after the original game, it follows FBI Agent Saga Anderson on a trip to Bright Falls, Washington in an attempt to shed some light on the murders and disappearances that have happened in the sleepy little town. On the other side (literally), Alan Wake fights to find his way out of the terrifying Dark Place (an alternate reality, not Garth Marenghi's) at the bottom of Cauldron Lake. The narrative finds you swapping between both characters as it unfolds, and you both must take on horrifying, dark versions of people and characters you know, all in a bid to solve the mystery at the heart of the game.
It's a great opportunity to experience the Alan Wakesaga and save plenty of money while you're at it. Just be sure to carve out plenty of time to be terrified while you play.
