Winners at the 57thGrammy Awards program on Feb. 8 included the documentary “20 Feet from Stardom,” featuring Judith Hill, Darlene Love, Merry Clayton and Lisa Fischer, which was named best music film.

Directed by Morgan Neville and produced by Gil Friesen and Cairin Rogers, the film — which also won an Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature — is about background singers for major artists. Hill, who is of Japanese and African American descent, may be best known for singing at Michael Jackson’s funeral and appearing on NBC’s “The Voice.”

Also nominated were “Beyonce & Jay Z: On the Run Tour,” Coldplay’s “Ghost Stories,” “Metallica Through the Never,” and Pink’s “The Truth About Love Tour: Live from Melbourne.”

The winner in the New Age category was “Winds of Samsara” by Ricky Kej and Wouter Kellerman. Also in the running were Kitaro for “Symphony Live in Istanbul”; “Bhakti” by Paul Avgerinos; “Ritual” by Peter Kater and R. Carlos Nakai; and “In Love and Longing” by Silvia Nakkach and David Darling.

Kitaro, who has been nominated 16 times, won a Grammy in 2000 for “Thinking of You.”

In the Regional Roots Music Album category, the winner was “The Legacy” by Jo-El Sonnier. Also nominated were “Hanu ‘A’ala” by Kamaka Kukona; “Light the Stars” by Bonsoir, Catin; “Love’s Lies” by the Magnolia Sisters; and “Ceremony” by Joe Tohonnie Jr.

In the World Music Album category, the winner was “Eve” by Angelique Kidjo. Also nominated were “Our World in Song” by Wu Man, Luis Conte and Daniel Ho; “Toumani & Sidiki” by Toumani Diabate and Sidiki Diabate; “Magic” by Sergio Mendes; and “Traces of You” by Anoushka Shankar.

The Grammys had a separate category for Hawaiian music from 2005 to 2011, but Hawaiian musicians must now compete in other categories. Ho holds the record for most wins (five) in the Hawaiian category.
