TORRANCE — The inaugural Sake Matsuri in Torrance on Oct. 4 had added shine with the participation of a delegation from Shohei Ohtani’s hometown of Oshu in Japan’s Iwate Prefecture.
The event at the Miyako Hybrid Hotel Torrance featured more than 25 premium sakes, including many award-winning brands and styles from all over Japan, as well as Japanese beers and shochu (spirits).
Tastings included Junmai sake, Junmai Daiginjo sake, Ginjo sake, sparkling sake, shochu, umeshu and nigori sake.
Among the food pairints were California rolls, chicken karaage and shrimp shumai.
