He Xiaopeng, the company’s chief executive, confirmed Wu’s departure without disclosing his future career plans on August 2. Wu had previously expressed his intention to leave Xpeng due to his family being based in the US, and the company had chosen Dr. Li Liyun to take over the autonomous driving team, Xpeng’s CEO said in his statement. Currently, Li Liyun is responsible for the autonomous driving planning and control technologies at Xpeng.
