East West Players, the nation’s premier Asian American theater, will hold its On-Camera Commercial Audition Class, taught by Aaron Takahashi, from Feb. 10 to March 31.
With over 45 national commercials under his belt, Takahashi takes a comprehensive look at the process of commercial acting, from signing in at the audition to booking and shooting the job. Through on-camera work, he will introduce you to the numerous types of commercial auditions. He will share his insights on the art of commercial acting, including breaking down audition sides, recognizing the tone of a spot, and finding beats and jokes.
Takahashi has appeared in campaigns for Esurance, Snapple, and a popular commercial for Amp’d Mobile in which he raps to himself in a public restroom before getting caught. His latest commercial is a spot for Kmart. His television credits include “Community,” “The Mentalist,” “Sullivan & Son,” “The Big Bang Theory” and “Back in the Game.” He is also featured on “Conan” in comedic sketches and pre-taped segments. Takahashi has appeared in films such as “Better Luck Tomorrow,” “Yes Man” and “Welcome to the Jungle.” On stage, he was last seen in the world premiere of “Slice” at the Fremont Centre Theatre in South Pasadena. He is also an instructor and core performing member of the Asian American improv group Cold Tofu.
Whether you’re just starting out in the commercial world, or have been auditioning regularly and not getting callbacks or bookings, Takahashi will help you discover what you can do to set yourself apart from the crowd.
Prior acting training required.
