Found and rescued in Los Angeles an hour before he was set to be euthanized, this funny-looking little fellow has turned out to be a Very Good Dog! According to his bio, he's spent the past seven years working as a pet therapist, inspiring children and seniors both with his distinctive look.
The seniors he spends time with try to guess what breed or breed combo leads to Scamp's appearance and thick cords of fur. The kids cuddle with him, and call him a "fuzzy watermelon." That's maybe not too far off?

While it may be geared toward recognizing "the world's ugliest dog," in truth the contest helps to spread awareness of and get people excited about rescues.
None of these dogs fit the traditional standard of cuteness for our four-legged friends, but they're all rescues who found their way into loving homes. As fun as it is to celebrate all of these unique-looking Good Boys and Good Girls, there are plenty of dogs out there like them that need homes and won't get one unless people like us step up.
