Rafu Shimpocolumnist Guy Aoki was the guest speaker at a gathering of the Greater L.A. Chapter of the JACL on Feb. 15 at Merit Park Recreation Hall in Gardena. Aoki talked about his involvement with the redress campaign in the late 1980s as a member of the National Coalition for Redress/Reparations; his work with the late radio/TV legends Casey Kasem of “American Top 40” and Dick Clark of “American Bandstand”; and his activism as co-founder of Media Action Network for Asian Americans. His presentation included a video about MANAA narrated by Kasem, and a Q&A with the audience.
